A Lofty Solution for Older Children

If you live in a typical modern house on a modern housing estate, you may find that the rooms in your house are not quite as spacious as you might expect. Certainly, rooms in large terraced Victorian town houses or traditional 1930s bay fronted semis are often more generous in size.
In a child’s bedroom you could find that buying a loft bed is a good way of freeing up some floor space, allowing a child a little more room for play.  Loft beds come in variety of styles.  For younger children you can find mid-height loft beds with cupboard space or a small desk underneath.  Tall loft beds, suitable for teenagers and older children, often have a wardrobe directly under the bed with a small chest of drawers or a study area to the side which is big enough for placing a laptop and for completing homework.  Some styles of loft bed may not include a wardrobe but may have a chair which can transform into a spare single futon bed for a sleepover guest.
The cheapest loft beds are made from chipboard but, if you want to buy something which is more sturdy and which will suit your child’s needs for a few years, then consider buying one made of timber or metal.
